With the release of the 11th issue of MAGNIFY, we step into a new chapter—continuing to ensure that the voices and journeys of women of colour in STEM are heard, seen, and remembered. What began as a simple vision has evolved into a vibrant community that unites women across the world, shining with the brilliance born from the meeting of science and humanity.
This issue emerges at an inspiring moment. Our focus goes beyond scientific and technological breakthroughs—it celebrates how diversity, culture, and innovation together shape the evolving landscape of STEM. From research labs to creative kitchens, from the scientist’s microscope to the artist’s palette, every story in this edition reflects how women lead change with intellect, resilience, and heart.
This time, Shwetha Narayanan shares her perspective as a “STEM Mother,” speaking honestly about the balance between career and motherhood. In the Mentor Spotlight, Priscila Cano Zanabria reflects on guiding young women to rediscover confidence and direction. The Big Sisters STEM Story features Vida Asrina, whose design thinking and social innovation illuminate a new dimension of female leadership.
In the Mentee Spotlight, wildlife disease ecologist Juliet Bao Ngoc Doling brings a refreshing academic voice—her research on endangered species goes hand in hand with her commitment to mentoring the next generation of women in science. The Ambassador Feature introduces Dilendra Wijesekara, whose life intertwines the roles of scientist, advocate, and communicator into a vivid portrait of innovation and equality.
The boundaries between art and science blur in The Arts Corner, where the fascinating world of Molecular Gastronomy turns chemistry into creativity and imagination into flavour. The Cultural Intelligence segment transports us to Kerala, India’s “God’s Own Country,” where stories of tradition, modernity, and women in STEM intertwine beautifully.

As we turn the page to our 11th issue of MAGNIFY, I’m filled with both pride and gratitude for how far we’ve come. What began as a spark — a dream to highlight the brilliance of women of colour in STEM — has now become a powerful movement of visibility, belonging, and celebration.
Through the past editions, MAGNIFY has illuminated the journeys of women who dared to redefine boundaries — scientists, engineers, innovators, and dreamers who continue to shape our collective future. Each story has been a reminder that representation matters, that every voice has power, and that diversity fuels innovation.
In this issue, we continue to magnify what truly matters — purpose, passion, and progress. We spotlight women leading change across emerging technologies, sustainability, and creative entrepreneurship. We explore how STEM connects with art, culture, and identity, revealing the beauty of a world where science and humanity coexist harmoniously.
